• Why Liberia’s new president-elect wants UTM Group boss at his investiture

Julius Rone for instance, understands that honour propels a man and elevates him beyond the barricades of privilege and status divides. For being a man of honour, the billionaire magnate and UTM head honcho recently received a personal invitation from Liberia’s new President-elect, George Weah, to attend his inauguration.

Weah personally invited Julius and his wife Utibe for the event thus attesting to the Rones’ enviable social and political capital at home and abroad.  There is no gainsaying Julius is one of few Nigerians who is well respected abroad and the reason is not farfetched.

Julius, a businessman with interests in the maritime industry as well as oil gas is a brilliant administrator and focused performer who has steered the affairs of UTM Group of Companies with his cutting edge and practicable management style which has been hailed and commended by stakeholders in the industry.

He is a big player in the oil and gas industry, both in Nigeria and outside the shores of the country. His entry into the Ghanaian economy through his participation in the country’s Jubilee Oil Field, which contains recoverable reserves of at least 1.2 billion barrels of oil equivalent, enjoyed rave reviews in the media in 2010.

His membership of professional bodies and philanthropic organizations cuts across a wide range human entities.

As group managing director and chief executive officer of UTM (his brainchild), he envisioned, with the founding of the group, a Nigerian marine service conglomerate providing first class service to its clients while making a meaningful contribution to society.

In light of his dazzling exploits at home and abroad, Liberia’s new President-elect, Weah, has implored him and fellow magnates to make big investments in the country and Julius has promised to do so.
