Nike Animashaun must be charming to the bones; from the buff in her grin to the restive glint in her eyes, she certainly ignited the right sparks in the mind and consciousness of Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, the minister of petroleum resources. Thus despite the flurry of gossip and uncomplimentary stories that trailed her appointment in NPDC, Kachikwu trusted her guts. It would be recalled that Nike’s appointment generated buzz within and outside the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), as detractors and apologists of the pretty lady engaged in a slug-fest of sort over her suitability for the post.

However, when life’s harsh torrent sweeps a woman against a boulder, it is natural that she screams, and you need not be surprised if her howls becomes a theory. When the victim is Nike Animashaun, former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Lagos, her howls become a theory of how higher powers impede the trajectory of perceived dissidents to command. As you read, the deluge of joy that flooded Nike’s world in the wake of her appointment as General Manager, Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), is fast drying up, leaving shards of delight in its wake.

It is unclear whether Nike will shore up the fragments against her ruin or if she would survive the premeditated onslaught against her person. These are not the best of times for the former Permanent Secretary of Lagos’ Ministry of Science and Technology. The former wife of Lagos socialite, Banky Animashaun, was allegedly forcefully retired from Lagos State Civil Service by Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode. The elegant lady went home and took her retirement in good faith until the good Lord put a smile on her face and she secured another job at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as General Manager of its subsidiary, NPDC. Then trouble started.

Those in the know revealed to Highlife that a top politician in Lagos State was not comfortable with her appointment at the NNPC and wanted her fired at all cost. This powerful politician has been putting pressure on the powers that be at the NNPC to kick her out of her job and the elegant lady of style and panache has no one except God to help her keep her job. Subsequently, Nike has turned to God for support and his infinite mercies.
