The remains of renowned Bayelsa born-Lagos based billionaire, Keniebi Okoko was finally laid to rest on Friday 15th May. The funeral right was performed at his home town in Obungha Community, Bayelsa State.

Yes, death has never been kind. It snatches where it could, take people whether old or young, virtuous or villainous. Death never pretends to care or distinguish; so brazen that it is overhung and palpable in everyday life. Now, it has ended a most indelible and incandescent chapter in the live of Ihuaku Okoko.  Death has ripped away a part of her, the part that she most loved and laboured to hold on to forever. It is now just her against the treachery of the world.

Ihuaku is one of the most enduring and endearing fixtures on the social scene for the past almost two decades. The very fashionable lady loves to have a whale of a time and God blessed her with a wealthy husband, Keniebi, an oil magnate, who ensured that she never missed out on any latest fashion accessory.

The designer-loving beauty became bereaved as Keniebi passed recently. For her, life will never remain the same again with the death of her major support system and with whom she rocked the social scene since they got married. No wonder she is understandably going through the numbing gamut of grief; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

However, friends and family of Keneibi Okoko, the Bayelsa born billionaire who died recently after a botched tummy tuck surgery at Amethyst Hospital, Lekki, Lagos are still grieving his loss.

For a lot of people, he was a raison d’être to be alive; their mainstay; their joy and the embodiment of solution to all their earthly pursuits and problems. His sudden death was a shocker for those who knew him. Left to hold and cherish are the good times, his effervescent nature and memories of how well he lived his life.

Alas, there is a simmering and sordid gossip threatening the peace of the dead and the living. In the last few days, the blogosphere has been aflame as some bloggers have pinned the unfortunate demise of Okoko on Akunna Nwala of the popular hairline outfit, Kuku’shair. Gorgeous Akunna, a mother of one, also owns Kuku’s Luxury Hair Salon and Spa and Daryl Teatox, a detox tea outfit which she co-owns with a friend.

As the story goes, Akunna and Keneibi were chummy and they enjoyed each other’s company and confidence. It was alleged that she introduced Keneibi to the hospital where he did the fatal surgery. The said story has generated a lot of ruckus on social media.

The stunning entrepreneur has refused to speak out about what she knows because she claims to still be mourning the untimely death of her dear friend.

Kenebi, the son of Prof. Kimse Okoko, a notable Ijaw scholar and leader, was a godson to former President Goodluck Jonathan, a relationship he parlayed into making monumental wealth while the latter was in office.

He ran unsuccessfully for the governorship seat of Bayelsa State but was comforted by the fact that he still had age on his side. Keneibi died at 42 on April 15.

But it is not only rumours of the circumstances surrounding his death that his memory has to deal with; it is already being peddled that his beautiful wife, Ihuaku, is going through a tough time with the family over his assets but everything is hush-hush yet. As if that were not enough, his all-white mansion in Ikoyi has lost its shine and spark as it is now like a ghost town.

Only his expensive wonders on wheels neatly parked in the compound give the place a semblance of life. Gloom seems overhung in the house, understandably.
