As the scion of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguably Nigeria’s most powerful politician, Seyi is for many political favour seekers, the go-to man; the man who has on speed dial everybody that matters in the Lagos State government, and who can literally turn day into night in Lagos.

Though in his early 30s, the lawyer-son of the All Progressives Congress, APC chieftain and two-term governor of Lagos State is understandably as influential as they come. Considering again that there is a groundswell of rumours that he is being primed for a topmost political office in the state, Seyi has come into his own as a factor in the political calculus of Lagos State.
And he is inadvertently stirring up heated conversations in many circles.

Seyi is the MD/CEO of Lotsad Promomedia which describes itself as the new rave in advertising companies in Nigeria.

Now, this is where the misconception lies; LASAA was established by Tinubu under the Lagos State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency Law, 2006, to re-define the signage and outdoor advertising industry through effective regulation and civic beautification and to regulate and control outdoor advertising and signage displays in the state.

As the umbrella body of an industry where he is seen as a major domo, Seyi has been perceived as having more than input on who heads the agency. Thus, the sack, recently, of Mobolaji Sanusi, the former MD of LASAA, by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been perceived in some quarters as the hand of Esau and the voice of Jacob. It is claimed that an alleged fallout between Seyi and Sanusi may have led to the latter’s ouster.

Interestingly, Sanusi’s tenure expired September 13, 2019, but much against his expectations, it was not renewed. In a statement on Tuesday, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, said Sanwo-Olu had approved the appointment of Adedamola Docemo as the new managing director of the agency.

According to the statement, Docemo’s appointment was confirmed in a letter by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, and took effect from December 9. “Docemo’s appointment followed a vacancy created by the expiration of the tenure of the former managing director on September 13, 2019.

However, many discerning persons are therefore wondering how a statutory government procedure became the albatross of Seyi who is just going about his business like any other young Nigerian.
