As Nigeria’s 2027 presidential race begins to take shape, fiery cleric Pastor Adewale Giwa has predicted that a joint ticket between former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and Ex-Anambra Givernor Peter Obi could unseat President Bola Tinubu.
The Senior Pastor of The Second Coming of Christ Ministry stated that Tinubu’s administration has failed to meet the expectations of many Nigerians. Giwa, known for his outspoken political views, said the removal of fuel subsidy by Tinubu’s government was a clear sign that the current administration is not on the side of the masses. …CONTINUE READING
“The problem I have with the Tinubu-led government is the removal of subsidies. It only favors the rich and politicians, but against the poor,” he said. He added that any government that neglects the poor is “anti-citizens.”
Pastor Giwa argued that Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 election was inevitable, claiming it was “destined” despite the failure of the opposition to unite. However, he believes 2027 presents a different opportunity—one that could see the tide turn if Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, agrees to be Atiku’s running mate.
“Tinubu was designed to be the president of Nigeria in the last 2023 election… This time around, if Peter Obi agrees to be a running mate to Atiku, Tinubu will lose the 2027 election,” Giwa said.
His comments come amid growing talks of an opposition coalition aimed at tackling what critics describe as growing hardship, hunger, and poor governance in the country. Peter Obi recently responded to speculations of a deal with Atiku, clarifying that his role in any coalition is not driven by personal ambition but by a desire to end bad governance.
Giwa concluded by warning that Tinubu’s re-election is likely if the opposition fails to form a united front. He acknowledged Tinubu’s influence but insisted that unity among opposition leaders could change the 2027 outcome.
“However, aside from this, Tinubu is Tinubu. That means his administration will go beyond 2027,” he remarked.
As the nation prepares for another high-stakes election, the possibility of a powerful Atiku-Obi alliance may become a major talking point across the political setting.
