The former PDP National Youth Group spokesperson, Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, has revealed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar stands a better chance of clinching the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 election
According to Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, Atiku, the 2023 presidential candidate of the PDP, will defeat any aspirant to cling to the presidential ticket of ADC because of his support base.
Recall that Mallam Salihu Lukman, one of the leaders of the ADC, recently confirmed that the coalition party will hold a fair primary to select its candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
He stressed that no individual, including Atiku Abubakar or the Labour Party’s flagbearer in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, would be given preferential treatment.
However, in an exclusive interview with Legit on Sunday, July 20, Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, spokesperson of the New Democratic Frontiers, maintained that the northern elite’s desire for power is a driving factor for Atiku’s chance in ADC during the coalition’s primaries.

Speaking further, Akinniyi explained that Atiku’s support base, moving out of the PDP and the APC, strengthens his position.
However, Akinniyi added that securing the ADC ticket depends on the strength of “your goodwill, structures, and influence blocs.”
Ahead of the 2027 election, Akinniyi told Legit that: “Presently, the leaders of the Coalition are focused on galvanizing support from everyone to have a firm foundation and further enhance the structure of the African Democratic Congress, to serve as the best alternative to the incumbent government at the federal level.
“Since the annexation of LP and PDP by the APC, it’s important and necessary for major opposition leaders to find a new credible party ahead of 2027.
“However, the current drive for power in Northern Nigeria is a pointer to what might play out in the ADC presidential primaries and the presidential election proper. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will defeat any aspirant to cling to the Presidential Ticket of ADC because of his support base that are currently moving out of PDP and APC. We all know that ticket is all about the frequency of your goodwill, structures and influence blocs.”

Dare Glinstone has got it wrong. Peter Obi had actually defeated Atiku Abunarka in the 2023 election. Moreover, the APC has not.merged PDP and the LP under its armpit. Peter Pbi can form powerful blocks to win.

I am of the same view with Akinniyi in the sense that the Northern power drive is a huge advantage for Atiku. But APC has not merge PDP and the LP to the best of my knowledge.
I buy the ideal that atku might merge as the flag holder for ADC but I still root for Obi
The 2027 election might actually going to been the biggest defeat for APC and it’s bad leadership in this country ‘ because if care is not taking for what played in the last general election in Lagos that made APC lose woefully and roefully 5millions vote to LP against the ruling party 1.3miillion , may also happen again in all others states. Please I may be rough with this my point but will can just pray and watch it happens real

It may not work out the way you think and wish. However it will boil down to the question of who of the two will be a better person to market for the coming election. I believe the easterners will feel cheated outside Obi and that will affect the result at the general election. Be Ware of bugs that are out to sell Atiku so that Tinubu will find it easy. Some comments are APC triggered
Obi should remain in LP.
If ADC wants a fair play, they must not bring a presidential candidate but project someone for the V.P position while they support Obi of LP come 2027 election. After which the LP will only produce the VP position and ADC brings a presidential candidate for their 2031 bid and get the support of LP. Shikina.
