Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s ex-aide and APC stalwart, Bashir Ahmad, has stirred debate on social media after challenging what he described as the idolization of former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The tweet included an image allegedly showing deteriorated infrastructure from Anambra State during Obi’s tenure as governor, prompting mixed reactions. While some users defended Obi’s record and pointed to his fiscal discipline and education sector reforms, others agreed with Ahmad, saying no leader should be exempt from critical assessment.
This exchange reflects ongoing tensions in Nigeria’s political discourse, where Peter Obi continues to command a large and vocal following. Ahmad’s comments add to the broader conversation about leadership standards and accountability, particularly as the country looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.
