Nigeria’s telecom space has welcomed a new player, and it is coming in with an offer that many businesses will find hard to ignore.
Vitel Wireless has officially launched its nationwide operations, introducing free internal calls and SMS for organisations that sign up on its platform.
The company is positioning itself as a business-focused telecom provider, aiming to help companies cut communication costs while improving teamwork and security.
Vitel Wireless unveiled its services at a launch event attended by business owners, tech leaders, and industry professionals. The highlight of the event was the company’s unique model, which blends regular GSM services with cloud-based communication tools.
This means businesses are not only getting phone lines, they are also getting a workplace communication system built to make operations smoother.
Kenneth Nwabueze, the executive chairman of Vitel Wireless, explained that the company wants to be seen as a partner that helps businesses work smarter and faster.
According to him, Vitel’s network combines affordability with features that support modern organisations such as schools, logistics firms, hospitals and startups. He noted that the service is built to help companies stay connected, secure their operations, and improve productivity.
One of the major features is Vitel’s Closed User Group (CUG), which allows organisations to connect up to 50 staff members under a private network.
Inside this group, members can make free internal calls, send free messages and enjoy discounted data plans. The CUG also supports auto-attendant services, staff extensions similar to what offices use with PBX systems, and even international calls at reduced rates.
Beyond communication, Vitel is adding tools that help companies track staff movement and respond quickly during emergencies.
These tools include SecureMe and the Oga-App, two platforms built to provide real-time tracking, SOS alerts and operational visibility. At the event, Vitel demonstrated how SecureMe can activate instant live tracking during emergencies, while the Oga-App helps employers verify staff attendance and track performance automatically.
Chiobi Ben Odera, the Head of Product Marketing, explained that businesses today need more than just call and data services. They need systems that help them monitor activities, manage teams better and operate with confidence.
He added that Vitel’s Location Awareness Technology brings together SecureMe, Oga-App and other tools that show the live location of workers, assets and deliveries, all in one ecosystem.
The launch comes at a time when Nigeria’s telecom industry is becoming more competitive, with more companies looking to enter the market. Earlier reports showed that Lebara Nigeria has also opened a reservation portal for customers to secure numbers in the 0724 range, ahead of its own launch.
