Several regions across Nigeria plunged into darkness on Monday following another collapse of the national electricity grid.
The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) confirmed the incident in a statement on X, explaining that power supply had dropped drastically as efforts to restore the grid got underway.
NISO, which manages the national power supply to electricity distribution companies, noted that as of Monday, only Abuja and Ibadan were receiving electricity.
As of the time of filing the report, NISO said only Abuja and Ibadan had 50 megawatts of electricity as against the 3,660 MW allocated on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
