The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially stated that FIFA has not issued any verdict on the eligibility protest Nigeria filed after losing to DR Congo in the 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff.
Any claims circulating online that FIFA has decided in favour of Nigeria and awarded a 3–0 win are false and fabricated.
What’s the dispute about?
After Nigeria lost to DR Congo on penalties in November 2025 (ending Nigeria’s World Cup hopes on the field), the NFF lodged a protest with FIFA alleging that some DR Congo players were ineligible — claiming they held foreign passports despite DR Congo’s laws on dual citizenship.
What’s FIFA’s position so far?
FIFA has not communicated any ruling to either Nigeria or DR Congo yet.
Nigeria says it believes it has a valid case and is awaiting an official decision.
FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee is expected to issue a decision, but no official verdict has been released.
There are fake reports and fabricated documents online claiming FIFA has ruled in Nigeria’s favour (for example awarding a 3–0 win), but the NFF has categorically debunked these as misleading and false.
Verdict: No official FIFA ruling has been issued in favour of the Super Eagles over DR Congo. The case is still pending, and Nigeria is awaiting an official communication from FIFA.
