FintiriAdamawa Govenor Ahmadu Fintiri
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naija News reports that the governor made this known on Friday during a broadcast to the people of the state.
He announced that his decision to defect was not taken alone, as members of his cabinet and other key officials of the Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State also moved with him to the APC.

Fintiri explained that the move was based on what he described as the need to advance the growth and progress of Adamawa State.
Before Fintiri’s defection, a large group of lawmakers in the Adamawa State House of Assembly resigned from the PDP.
On Wednesday during a plenary session, Speaker Bathiya Wesley read out resignation letters from himself and many of his colleagues, showing their decision to leave the PDP.
Among those who stepped down were the Deputy Speaker, Mohammed Buba Jijiwa, and at least thirteen other members of the Assembly.
A total of about fifteen lawmakers resigned their membership of the PDP, saying problems within the party at the national level influenced their choice.
Most of the defecting lawmakers are expected to join the APC, though a few were still deciding on their next political home at the time of the announcement.
