United States Vice President JD Vance has said that the American delegation could not reach an agreement with Iran after having 24 hours of marathon negotiations with the Islamic Republic.
The vice president, in a short press conference, said that the Middle East nation had chosen to reject the conditions of the United States.
Recalled that the US and Israel, on Saturday, February 28, launched a military operation against Iran, assassinating the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, along with several civilians, including 168 children.
Since then, there have been bombings and killings in Iran by Israel and America. On the other hand, Iran has been attacking Israel and US allies in the Gulf Region, including Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and several others.
Meanwhile, the announcement by the US vice president has started generating reactions from concerned people across the world. Below are some of their comments: Ayo Rame2 listed the Iranian rights under the UN charter:
“Trump has demeaned the Iranian ppl as human beings who have the following rights: Self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter by establishing a self-defence system. Rejection of White Zionist domination in the Middle East. Freedom to develop science-technology (Nuclear Programs)”
MaherPTI criticised JB Vance: “As always, cowboys speak. They have a limited education & should know the basics about negotiations. When you negotiate, you must have the intention to reach an agreement where common terms are agreed upon — not only “our terms.” It’s not one-way traffic.”
Macheather explained why the peace deal cannot be achieved: “Oh, please! Israel does not want this war to end, not yet. Kushner and Witkoff were struggling to surpass their smirks. With those two as negotiators, it was definitely not going to be a peace deal. The cynic in me says Trump played Vance (& Thiel) here.”
Rragwe Basimane argued US sincerity: “The US most likely went there and negotiated in bad faith, now they want to portray themself as “victims”.
Meanwhile, they started all this when there was no clear and imminent threat; now they are stuck. They’re putting up a brave face while they’ve had their weak one handed to them.” Femi White wrote: “What the Americans can’t get with the war, they want to get with negotiations.
Iran stands firm. America is a loser both in war and at the table. Iran is not chickening out. Let Iran and Israel face each other without American intervention and let’s see how it plays.”
