He added that the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was also frustrated out of the PDP at the time, resulting in Atiku Abubakar retaining the PDP Presidential ticket as a Northerner.
Dele Momodu stated that Nyesom Wike, who had been insistent on having the PDP presidential ticket zoned to the South, also showed a willingness to be a Vice Presidential candidate alongside Atiku Abubakar in the last presidential election.
He said: “Atiku wanted them to cede power to the Southeast but because Wike had already disqualified himself by saying he is not an Igbo man that he is from South-south. They also succeeded in frustrating Peter Obi out of the party, so the road was clear for Nyesom Wike, there was nobody who had the capability, you must give it to him. I like to say it all the time, Wike is a damn good guy, project’s man but he is always angry”.
