Governor Adeleke Speaks On Dumping PDP To Join ADC With Aregbesola

November 7, 2025
2 Min Read

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has dismissed claims that he is planning to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The Osun state governor through his media aide described the reports as false and politically motivated.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Thursday, Adeleke said there was no discussion or negotiation between him and former Osun governor, Rauf Aregbesola, regarding any move to the ADC.

Rasheed, in a statement made available to journalists, said the rumour circulating on social media was nothing but fake news spread by the opposition.

The statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the Osun State APC chairman that Governor Ademola Adeleke is negotiating with former Governor Rauf Aregbesola about joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“The report is false and the entire assertions by the opposition are mere fabrication and fake news.

“Governor Adeleke is not negotiating with former Governor Rauf Aregbesola about ADC and the governor is not joining ADC.

“The members of the public are hereby implored to ignore the fake news from the pit of hell.”

Nevertheless, this clarification comes amid ongoing political speculations in the state, following recent moves by some politicians believed to be aligning with Aregbesola’s political group.
