Former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State.
Naija News reports that the decision was contained in a letter dated February 9, 2026, which he sent to the chairman of his PDP ward in Shangui, Hong Local Government Area.
In the letter, Dr. Hong said his exit from the party was a personal choice made after wide discussions with his family, close friends and political allies.
He explained that the move came after deep thought about the current political situation in Nigeria and careful review of his own political direction going forward.
Based on these considerations, he decided to end his membership of the party.
Dr. Hong also appreciated the PDP for the role it played in his rise in public service.
He acknowledged the support he received from the party at the ward, local government and state levels, noting that these platforms gave him the chance to serve the country.
Although he has withdrawn from the party, the former minister said he remains thankful for the impact the PDP had on his political journey and said he would always value the experiences and opportunities he gained while being a member.
