But the night belonged to the Super Falcons, whose experience, depth and never-say-die spirit propelled them to yet another African title — their 10th in 13 editions of the competition.
Back to Nigeria with gusto, President Bola Tinubu on Monday rewarded Nigeria’s Super Falcons with $100,000 each and a three-bedroom home for every member of the team, following their remarkable comeback victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
In addition, each member of the technical team is to receive $50,000, along with a three-bedroom apartment in the Renewed Hope Housing Estate. The President announced the rewards during a reception held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he honoured the players and officials for their performance.
Critics from all social media platforms have been critising the presidency for the initiatives. But two Super Falcons player who spoke on the condition of anonymity has hit back to critics with thunder strike words.
“I know they will attack him, we know those people doing this, they can’t change, this is not a tribal reward, it is a national reward and everybody benefited, Ogun k*ll dem all,” she sounded off.
