Amid the lingering crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), speculation is swirling around Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, suggesting he may be weighing alternative political platforms ahead of the 2026 governorship race.
According to reports, the governor is said to be evaluating two options, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Insiders claim the choice is driven by concerns over internal PDP instability and the need for a platform with stronger brand identity and voter recognition.
A confidential source hinted that APGA appears to be emerging as Adeleke’s preferred option, though NNPP was also considered in earlier deliberations. The alleged preference, according to the source, stems from APGA’s perceived organizational strength and regional visibility.
Efforts to obtain clarification from Adeleke’s spokesperson were unsuccessful, as calls seeking comments on the speculation went unanswered.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Osun State Chapter, has issued a formal statement addressing circulating reports that the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, may consider pursuing his second-term ambition on the party’s platform.
APGA Osun affirmed its readiness to receive the Governor should he decide to align with the party.
In the statement signed by the Acting State Chairman of APGA, Wole Adedoyin, the party acknowledged Governor Adeleke’s notable performance across various sectors, describing him as a leader whose achievements are worthy of recognition.
APGA Osun emphasized that its platform remains open to progressive-minded individuals committed to genuine development and the welfare of the people.
