The plot to draft ex- President Goodluck Jonathan into the 2027 presidential race appears to be gathering steam. His supporters in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday launched what some political observers interpreted to be part of the underground work to clear the way for his emergence as the party’s flag bearer.
The statement comes on the heels of a hint dropped earlier in the week by former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Chief Olabode George, that Jonathan was highly qualified to seek re-election as president on the platform of the party. …click link here to continue reading the story

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has sent a major warning to its members endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition. The party described the actions of the party’s chieftains as anti-party activities.
Aside from Adeleke and Wike, former Governor Samuel Ortom, and some PDP senators, and several chieftains of the party have endorsed Tinubu for a second term
Speaking on the development, the PDP maintained that the actions of the members are a clear violation of the party’s constitution
Debo Ologunagba, the spokesperson of the party, in a statement on Friday, August 8, disclosed that the PDP has reviewed what was described as “persistent public media outbursts” by some of the party members who have declared their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Some prominent members of the PDP, including Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and former governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, among several others.
Wike and Ortom supported Tinubu in the 2023 election without denouncing their membership in the PDP. Their action was spurred out of anger with the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the leadership of the party, who rejected the southern bloc in the leadership structure.
They have recently endorsed President Tinubu for a second term. Wike, who is serving as a minister under Tinubu’s government, has said that he will spearhead the campaigns of Tinubu in Rivers, while Ortom advocated for the completion of President Tinubu’s second term in office.
Governor Adeleke, on the other hand, declared that he will support the second-term ambition of Tinubu but will not be leaving the PDP for the APC. Adeleke’s endorsement of Tinubu followed his series of meetings with the president and the report that he was making an alliance with Tinubu to secure his second term in the 2026 governorship election in the state.
Aside from the trio, several senators, House of Representatives members, and several other chieftains have endorsed President Tinubu’s second-term ambition in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on the matter, the PDP stated that the endorsement of Tinubu by the party members is a violation of the “provision of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) and that constitutes a serious threat to the stability and sustenance of our Party.”
