PDP Chieftain Umar Sani has alleged that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is reacting angrily after National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Works Minister David Umahi reportedly conveyed President Tinubu’s approval of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Sani outlined what he believes prompted the recent escalation in Rivers State politics. “Nuhu Ribadu and David Umahi went to Rivers to convey the President’s message that the President is happy with you, Governor Fubara. Now again, Fubara now took the APC card, and says he’s now a member, and he’s number one,” he said.
The PDP chieftain speculated that the President may have offered Fubara a deal regarding his political future. “The likelihood is that Tinubu has given him the nod: ‘If you join our party, then you can get your second term, but if you don’t, you will lose your second term.’ So he joined the party, and now he’s saying he’s a progressive, and now he’s saying that he’s entitled to second term,” Sani stated.
He noted the ongoing verbal exchanges between Wike and Fubara, with the FCT Minister vowing to “correct leadership mistakes” while the governor responded by comparing his critics to “barking dogs.” According to Sani, Wike has lost significant political ground in Rivers State as some of his former supporters have remained notably silent during the current crisis, potentially indicating a shift in their allegiance toward the governor.
