Kebbi State has been thrown into mourning following the death of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mohammed Usman Zuru, who passed away on Monday evening, 6 April, 2026, while receiving medical treatment in Cairo, Egypt.

The late Speaker, widely known as Lifiddan Zuru, represented Zuru Constituency and was a key political figure from the Zuru Emirate. He served as the presiding officer of the 10th Kebbi State Assembly, where he played a central role in legislative proceedings and governance within the state.
