Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has issued a strong warning to the social media handlers of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition for fabricating statements and attributing them to him.
According to Naija News, El-Rufai expressed his dissatisfaction with these statements in a post on 𝕏 on Thursday.
The former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) clarified that he is distancing himself from these statements, not because he necessarily disagrees with their content, but because he never made them.
According to El-Rufai, fabricating statements is not an honest way to represent the party or gain traction and should be stopped.
He wrote, “Dear ADC Vanguard. Please stop fabricating statements and attributing them to me. I have my social media handles where I can make my views and opinions published. I am going to disown the statements you created and attributed, not because I necessarily disagree with the message, but because I never made them. That is not the honest way to represent our party or gain traction. Please stop it forthwith.”
In response, the ADC social media handler deleted the message and apologised to El-Rufai.
The post read, “Dear Mallam El-Rufai, We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. It was never our intention to misrepresent or attribute statements to you. We respect your voice and your platforms as the proper channels for your views. Going forward, we will ensure that only verified and authentic sources are reflected in our communications. Thank you for pointing this out with clarity and respect. ADC Vanguard”
