As NIIA names him Associate Fellow

Wealth, without honour, is just a disease. It’s often considered a mortal plague, to prefer riches without honour, and for the sake of money lose the essence of living.

Ovation Magazine founder, Dele Momodu, probably understood this fact very early in his life, and by its truth, he established his moral compass. Little wonder his life became a hallmark of modest and mammoth mercies.

Spurred by Momodu aka Bob Dee’s exploits on the global journalism field and his contribution to nationhood, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, is set to confer an honorary chieftaincy title on the Chief Executive Officer of Ovation Media Group, Chief Dele Momodu.

A statement by the Press Secretary to Oba Akanbi said Momodu and his wife will be appointed as Aare Atayese and Yeye Aare Atayese of Iwoland as the most suitable to enliven his spirit towards the development of Iwoland.

The statement read: “Having contributed immensely to the promotion of Yoruba culture and tradition, and your mental beneficence through national and international media in ensuring quality governance is delivered, my throne (Oluwo in Council), considered you worthy and most suitable for the honorary chieftaincy title of Aare Tayese of Iwoland and your wife, as Yeye Aare Tayese of Iwoland.

“The need for more progressive minds that will aid the prosperity of Iwoland informed the chosen of the Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu and his wife, as Aare Atayese and Yeye Aare Atayese of Iwoland.

“Both the palace and the title receiver have agreed to stage the installation on October 2 at Oluwo’s Palace, Iwo, Osun State.

“The growth of Nigerian, African and international journalism was not without your attention. Your makings in quality pieces of advice, connections and goal getting spirit are needed to catapult Iwoland to an enviable height.”

In the wake of his chieftaincy honours, Momodu was recently named an Associate Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA).

Prof Ehosa Osaghae, the Institute’s Director-General, wrote a letter congratulating him, in the wake of his pronouncement.

The letter read: “This institute has identified you as eminently qualified and deserving of membership of the new cohort. Accordingly, it is my pleasure to inform you of your appointment as an Associate Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (AFNIIA).”

Though the appointment is honorary, the bearer is entitled to international connections with the NIIA and will use the title “Associate Fellow” of the NIIA, according to the letter, dated September 2, 2021.

The fellowship highlights Momodu’s achievements as a journalist, politician and social commentator whose candid thoughts have impacted in no small measure on dialogue and governance in Nigeria.
