Special Adviser on Public Communications to President Bola Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, has accused Peter Obi, a past presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), of engaging in hypocritical behaviour.
Bwala asserts that Obi is now participating in political talks that are in direct contrast to his well-known aversion to party loyalty.
In a recent interview, Bwala said that Obi is now in negotiations to become the vice-presidential candidate in a prospective political alliance ahead of the general elections in 2027….CONTINUE READING
This is despite the fact that Obi has often criticised politicians who switch party allegiance. It has been reported by Bwala that Obi has been attending meetings with a number of political people as part of this endeavour, and that he has already given his consent to the position that is being considered.
This finding comes at a time when the political atmosphere in Nigeria is becoming increasingly dynamic. Realignments are taking shape as politicians prepare themselves for the next electoral cycle by positioning themselves for the next election. Obi has established his reputation on the values of openness, political consistency, and change. During the presidential election of 2023, Obi received a significant amount of support, particularly among young people. Over and over again, he has accused lawmakers who have defected from their party of lacking intellectual commitment and acting in politics simply for the purpose of gaining personal advantage.
According to Bwala, however, Obi’s recent activities demonstrate that there is a disconnect between his public image and the political calculations he makes in his private life. He claimed that Obi’s willingness to join in coalition discussions for a vice-presidential seat is evidence of behaviour driven by ambition rather than devotion to the beliefs that he has professed he holds.
Both civilians and political analysts have been prompted to engage in discussion as a result of the charges. Despite the fact that some people perceive Obi’s reported discussions as a strategic posture in a political environment that is always shifting, others see it as a possible betrayal of the beliefs that he has been standing up for.
In reaction to the allegations, Peter Obi has not yet provided a statement. The subject continues to get a significant amount of interest across both social and conventional media channels, and many people are looking forward to following any additional developments.
It’s not true. These are present government’s loyalists. It’s just a way to make those who would have supported Obi to see him that way and back off. These are fanatic.
