Amid the debate about the 2027 elections, Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, spokesperson for the New Democratic Frontiers (NDF), in an interview with Legit on Sunday
Atiku Abubakar’s chances of clinching the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket for the 2027 elections look very promising, according to various analysts and political insiders.
Akinniyi told Legit why Atiku is the strongest contender for the nation’s top position as President Bola Tinubu seeks a re-election into office.

Dare Glintstone Akinniyi has described former vice president Atiku Abubakar as a “seasoned candidate” who has the best experience to lead Nigeria.
Legit reported that former governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal, had, in a trending interview, stated that he would support Atiku Abubakar over Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), if it came down to a choice over the future of Nigeria.
Buttressing his point, Akinniyi asserted that Tambuwal’s endorsement reflect a genuine belief in Atiku’s capabilities rather than personal bias.
“There is no better candidate or politician is experienced like former vice president Atiku Abubakar. To say he is the best option is even an understatement. The business of governance seems to be what he knows best and you can see the quality in-depth knowledge he has thrown into his campaign manifestos.
“Atiku Abubakar is not just a northern candidate; he is a Nigerian statesman whose vision transcends ethnicity, faith, or geography. He has stood the test of time, weathered the storms of politics, and proven himself as a leader with both the pedigree and the plan to rescue Nigeria from its deepening crisis.”
Speaking further, the analyst emphasised on Tambuwal’s credentials as a two-time governor of Sokoto state and a current senator, noting that his endorsement underscores the merit inherent in Atiku’s candidacy.
Akinniyi told Legit that: “Aminu Tambuwal is a two-time governor of Sokoto state, also a speaker of the House of Representatives, and currently a Senator. These positions are windows to engaging issues at the national level, and for him to endorse Atiku Abubakar without any personal bias, it’s a pointer to what is inherent in the person of Atiku.”
“His economic vision—rooted in restructuring, diversification, and private-sector-driven growth—remains the most coherent and pragmatic blueprint for lifting Nigeria out of poverty and despair. While others promise slogans, Atiku offers solutions.”
Continuing, Dare Glintstone Akinniyi maintained that Atiku’s commitment to Nigeria’s unity, has reinforced his position as the ideal candidate for the presidency in 2027.
Akinniyi reiterated his support for Tambuwal’s praise of Atiku, stating that Atiku is undoubtedly the strongest contender for Nigeria’s top position in 2027.
The analyst said: “While others pander to sectional sentiments, Atiku speaks the language of national unity. He understands that Nigeria cannot survive on propaganda or cosmetic reforms.
“Atiku Abubakar remains the best candidate for Nigeria’s number one seat come 2027. This is not just a statement of fact, it is known and you can see the incumbent Government copying his policies on Federalism and deregulation of the oil sector. I am wholly in support of Tambuwal’s submission on Atiku.”
Meanwhile, Tambuwal, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, is one of the key opposition leaders promoting the African

If Tinubu isn’t performaning Atiku can’t be alternate choice for Nigerians we can only assess Atiku under President Obasanjo who described him as the most corrupted Nigerian in his book that Atiku stole is enough to feed Nigerians for over 50yrs , His corruption days right from Nigeria custom when he was prematured retired Secondly Atiku should leave the stage of contesting for the younger vibrant southern candidate is getting too old. Enough is enough Atiku can’t be jumping all about from one party to others on the ground he wants to forcefully becoming Nig President is very shameful that he left PDP again as he did earlier to help to form APC and ran back to PDP and was given Tickets twice , is it morally with integrity to run away from PDP at this time of crisis when he was mainly the cause of the crisis? Atiku lack integrity and too desperately selfish.
