The Federal Government will soon make public the identities of individuals and groups allegedly financing terrorism in Nigeria, a presidential aide has disclosed.
Speaking on Monday, the aide said the move forms part of renewed efforts by the administration to strengthen national security and cut off funding channels that enable extremist networks to operate. He noted that relevant security and intelligence agencies have concluded extensive investigations and are finalizing procedures before the names are released.
According to him, the government has adopted a coordinated approach involving financial regulators, intelligence units, and international partners to track suspicious transactions linked to insurgent activities. He emphasized that the impending disclosure is intended not only to deter sponsors but also to reassure citizens of the government’s commitment to combating insecurity.
While declining to mention specific individuals or timelines, the aide insisted that the public should expect concrete actions soon. He further urged Nigerians to support ongoing security operations and avoid speculations that could compromise investigations.
Nigeria has grappled with various security challenges in recent years, including terrorism, banditry, and separatist violence, prompting stronger measures to disrupt funding networks believed to sustain such threats. Authorities say those found culpable will face prosecution under anti-terrorism and financial crime laws.
