Former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief Benjamin Elue, has passed away at the age of 85.
Elue served as Deputy Governor from 1999 to 2007 during the administration of former Governor Chief James Onanefe Ibori.
His time in office is remembered as a key period in the state’s early democratic development.
Elue was seen as a trusted and loyal partner in government, working closely with Ibori to establish a governance framework that influenced subsequent administrations.
His leadership contributed to setting procedures and policies that guided the state’s political and administrative processes in the years that followed.
The late Elue’s passing has brought reflections from political figures and citizens who recall his role in shaping Delta State’s democratic path.
In a tribute posted on his official Facebook page, former governor Ibori described the late Elue as a loyal and dependable partner in governance.
“Heartbroken to lose my gentleman Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elue. Thank you for the memories and the legacy. Rest on, Alum,” he wrote.
