The proposed March 27 and 28 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) may face uncertainty following a legal action filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja by an aspirant for the office of National Vice Chairman, South-South, Ambassador Fubara Dagogo.
Dagogo approached the court seeking an order to halt all activities relating to the convention over what he described as his exclusion from the exercise.
The aspirant, who serves as the Director-General of the APC States Assembly Forum, said he was denied the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms despite fulfilling the required conditions.
According to him, he paid the mandatory ₦5.1 million required for the forms and also obtained official clearance from the finance department of the ruling party.
However, he alleged that the party leadership failed to issue him the nomination forms.
Dagogo said repeated attempts to obtain the forms in line with the provisions of the APC constitution were unsuccessful, leaving him with no option but to seek legal redress.
In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/591/2026, the court was asked to interpret issues relating to the APC payment acknowledgement receipt No. 26827 dated March 13, 2026, and the party’s adjusted schedule for nationwide congresses and the national convention.
The suit also seeks interpretation of provisions of Section 20(1)(A) of the APC Constitution.
Listed as defendants in the originating summons are the APC, the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, the incumbent National Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, and the National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Mohammed Argungu.
The defendants, all of Buhari House, No. 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja, were given 30 days from the date of service of the summons to enter an appearance.
Among the reliefs sought, Dagogo is asking the court to issue a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from conducting the APC South-South zonal congress scheduled for March 25, 2026.
He is also seeking a declaration that by virtue of the APC payment acknowledgement receipt issued to him, he is entitled to be issued the expression of interest and nomination forms for the position.
The plaintiff further asked the court to declare as null and void any outcome of the APC congress for the office of National Vice Chairman, South-South, if conducted without his participation.
He also demanded ₦100 million in general damages against the third and fourth defendants for what he described as embarrassment, discomfort and mental torture.
As of the time of filing this report, the court had not fixed a date for the hearing of the matter
