BREAKING: Again, Another Top APC Senator Dumps Party; Returns to Opposition

May 10, 2026
2 Min Read

According to a report by TheCable on Saturday 9th May 2026, Senator Siyako Anthony Yaro, who represents Gombe South, has left the All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) and returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (Peoples Democratic Party) following his inability to secure the party’s senatorial ticket for the 2027 elections.

In a statement on Saturday, Yaro explained that his decision came after consultations with political associates, community leaders, and supporters across his constituency; He said the move reflects his commitment to staying aligned with the interests and aspirations of his people.

The senator noted that the PDP was the platform that originally gave him the opportunity to serve, adding that it remains central to his vision for development in Gombe South, particularly in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.

Rejecting claims that his defection was driven by frustration or political instability, Yaro described it as a deliberate and accountable step aimed at better representing his constituents.

He also reaffirmed his political ambition, stating that he is prepared to contest and continue serving the district.

“I am ready to run; I am ready to win,” he said, urging residents to remain united and focused on collective progress rather than internal party dynamics.
