Kano Pillars have confirmed the death of their former player, Abdul Haruna.
He slumped and died during a friendly match in Kano between his colleagues and some footballers based abroad.
Haruna was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
Pillars media officer, Idris Malikawa, admitted that Haruna’s death remains a mystery and said the state were still in shock and disbelief.
“Kano Pillars are still in a state of shock regarding the cause of his death.
“He was one of most important players while alive and we were shocked that he would die so early like this.
“We pray that Allah grant his eternal rest and may his family be able to bear the loss.
“He will be buried on Monday morning according to Islamic rites in Kano,” he said.
Haruna is survived by his wife, Surayya and a baby boy.
