Months after, Buhari’s ministers yet to declare assets

The All Progressive Congress rode into power on a horse adorned with lots of promises; promises of transparency in governance, of change, of a better life for Nigerians and many more. These promises won the hearts of many to their side and they were highly supported through votes by Nigerians who were tired and fed up of 16 years of Peoples Democratic Party’s reign. But months after attaining the coveted height of power, nothing seems to have changed and the trust many had in the party continues to fade away

Recently, the popular perception of the APC by most Nigerians is falling towards the negative side especially with the recent controversy the 2016 budget has been generating.

When President Buhari came into power, he promised Nigerians that he and those who will work with him will declare their assets to the public. Although he and his vice had done this, but months after swearing in his ministers, none has declared his or her assets, thus defeating the promise made by the president.

Many Nigerians are now wondering if many of these ministers who had held political offices in the past, have skeletons in their cupboards by being reluctant to declare their assets publicly. Before they were sworn in as ministers, some were accused of various corruption allegations with concrete evidences, but President Buhari turned deaf ear to these allegations.
