A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Gulak was murdered by unknown gunmen in Imo State as he was on his way to the airport to catch a flight.

Gulak was said to be in his vehicle with two more people, that is, his driver and another person when the assailants truck. Unfortunately, the attackers identified Gulak and murdered him before making their way out. As Nigerians keep asking more curious questions about the ugly incident, the police has decided to give more details about the shocking murder of Gulak.

According to a report, the Imo State police command spoke on the murder of Gulak and gave more details on how the attackers carried out the evil act. It was the spokesman of the Imo State Police Command, Bala Elkana that gave more insights into the sad incident. According to Elkana, Gulak was killed by a team of six armed bandits.

Gulak was said to have left his hotel room where he lodged to proceed to the airport without informing the security agencies. According to Elkana who spoke on behalf of Imo Police Command, Gulak did not inform the police that he was departing the Pretoria Hotel where he lodged neither did he tell other sister security agencies. He just moved with his driver and one other person. His driver and the other person were not security agents neither could they offer him security protection.

That was a costly mistake Gulak made. He should not have made that move without informing the security agencies. Supposing he had informed the security agencies, they would have sent him armed security operatives to escort him to the airport. With that, things would have been different. This is because, the armed attackers would have known that coming to attack Gulak would mean to engage in gun battle with the armed security guards that are escorting him.

More so, Gulak should have taken into consideration the volatile security situation in the South East region in this recent time. The major emphasis is on Imo State where the heat seems to be worst. Currently, the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, has made tension to heighten the more in the South East after it declared a three-day sit-at-home order. That order according to IPOB started from May 29 and it would end on May 31. Meanwhile, Gulak was in Imo as at that May 29 when the order was meant to start. It was on May 30 that he was murdered.

Given all these security concerns, it was not a good idea to take some risks like moving out without informing the security agencies. Most especially for a top politician like Gulak, he should have done the needful so that he would not be taking chances. Informing the security agencies and getting some armed security operatives to escort him would have been a better decision.

Going on that journey without informing the security agencies and without security guards was a big mistake Gulak made. Well, this is not to blame him so much. It is for others to learn from his mistake. It is hoped that his killers would be fished out and made to pay for their crime.
