The whistleblowing policy of the Federal Government is paying off positively, as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday stormed a residential building on the 7th floor of a four-bedroom apartment at Osborne Towers located at 16 Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, where a humongous find of foreign currencies and naira notes to the tune of $43.4m, £27,800 and N23.2m was uncovered.

According to the report on Saharareporters, the building is owned by former PDP chairman, Adamu Muazu. A source close to the anti-graft agency has told SaharaReporters that the building belongs to Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, a former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Mu’azu was also the governor of Bauchi State in Nigeria between 1999 and 2007.

Sources close to Mu’azu have confirmed to SaharaReporters that the former PDP chairman owns the building. While in Lagos, he lives on the penthouse on the building, a source said. Other residents of the house are former Chief of Air Staff, Adesola Amosu, Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, a former Managing Director at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Godwin Obla, a senior lawyer and former prosecutor to EFCC.

It always amazes how much illicit wealth is floating around and yet this country has not collapsed. We are always at the edge but just never tip over. Luck? Serendipity? God’s grace? It’s astonishing. The weird part is, all these people get this wealth and they can’t even offer substantial scholarships or put systems in place to benefit the masses. Take me for instance, I may not have a 1st class degree, but I have the passion to change lives. I’m already in that field, but I know I still need some lessons from schools that I can’t afford. Ther is so much videos and TEDx can take you far. I see stunning weddings and parties thrown by these people for kids who all they want to do is be married and enjoy their daddies wealth but not interested in creating a multiplier effect that can touch more lives. I read about scenarios where girls are taken on lavish treats abroad for shopping which they will still discard cos it was all ‘last season’ designs. I imagine what my life will be if I could get just 5mi of that amount to pay for school fees at an European university or Africa. But oh well! Life ain’t made of wishes no fiary God mothers. I will keep saving and working hard until I can get to where I want to go to. Gone are the days when it was said that bill Gates is successful without a sch degree. People forget that he dropped out of harvard. Even Richard branson recently said experience and a good school education go hand in hand for success. I guess that’s the 2.0 Mindset. I’m sorry for this long post. But I really felt like ranting cos it’s upsetting when I see stories like this on people who already have so much and not thinking of 5 to 10 generations after us. What will be our legacy? Would we be a ford? Or will be a name in the papers for fraud. What will be your narrative? I tire.
