Nigerians beheld a shocking spectacle on their TV screens, phones and other media outlets on Wednesday as the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, addressed a press conference admitting a grave error in the conduct of this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The press conference was a reaction to widespread complaints by candidates and parents suspecting a foul play over the unusually massive failures recorded by candidates. But after a thorough review of the exercise, Prof Oloyede took responsibility and tendered an unreserved apology to the close to 379,997 candidates affected by the unusual error.
