Fresh cracks have emerged within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, as a bloc loyal to Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani announced its mass resignation from the party.

The decision was contained in a communiqué issued after a stakeholders’ meeting held at the residence of Hon. Mijiyewa Umaru Kugama.

The group, drawn from the three senatorial zones of the state, accused the party’s leadership of undermining democratic principles.

“The actions of the party leadership have destroyed internal democracy, undermined the rule of law, and rendered the party structure in Adamawa State illegitimate and unacceptable,” the communiqué stated.

At the centre of the crisis are the recently concluded party congresses, which the stakeholders described as flawed.

“The congresses were fundamentally flawed, manipulated, and imposed against the will of the majority of party members,” the group alleged.

They also accused party officials of ignoring court orders and existing injunctions, warning that such actions set a “dangerous precedent of lawlessness.”

The faction passed a vote of no confidence in the party leadership and declared its exit.

“We refuse to be part of a system that thrives on injustice, impunity, and illegality,” the communiqué read.

It also rejected the outcomes of the congresses, declaring them “null and void.”

The stakeholders confirmed plans to align with another political platform, though no specific party was named.

They mandated Binani to lead the transition and coordinate a unified political strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.

Naija News understands that the development could reshape the political landscape in Adamawa, with Binani expected to remain a key figure in the 2027 governorship race.

The communiqué also outlined plans for grassroots mobilisation across polling units, wards, and local government areas.

“This decision marks the beginning of a new political direction anchored on credibility, inclusiveness, and true democratic ideals,” the stakeholders stated.
