2027: Fresh Twist As Kwankwaso Declares Northern Support For Tinubu Re-Election

Tinubu and Kwankwaso

A fresh political wave is emerging in the North as Dr. Musa Illyasu Kwankwaso says northerners are increasingly aligning behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential race.

Kwankwaso, a senior APC chieftain, stated that recent political activities across northern states clearly signal a growing acceptance of Tinubu’s leadership.

He insisted that the region is gradually building strong momentum for the president’s second-term bid.

He pointed to what he described as visible signs of renewed trust, adding that Tinubu’s support base in the North is cutting across different political blocs.

Kwankwaso highlighted the massive turnout that welcomed Defence Minister and former Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, during his recent visit home.

He described the reception as evidence that ordinary northerners are ready to back Tinubu again.

According to him, “northern leaders and political office holders should emulate Bello Matawalle Maradun’s political sagacity,” noting that Matawalle has remained deeply connected to his people both in office and after leaving office.

Kwankwaso said Matawalle’s closeness to the grassroots has strengthened Zamfara’s support for the Tinubu administration, adding that a large majority of the state’s residents are prepared to re-elect the president in 2027.

He recalled that over three million people reportedly turned out to welcome Matawalle, many of whom, he claimed, came voluntarily and pledged their support for Tinubu.

Speaking with journalists in Kano, Kwankwaso urged all northern appointees to intensify grassroots sensitisation about the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

He said they must help their communities understand the impact of the Renewed Hopes Agenda, which he described as a transformational pillar that is reshaping democratic dividends across the country.
