ashafapixPerfection is like an iron forge; it imbues its source with rugged grains of brushed steel. In Senator Gbenga Ashafa, it manifests like a rampart of strapping, albeit acquired character. He embodies so much of what makes perfection an onerous yet enviable trait. He is a man who sees something in everything that the rest of us don’t. But his genius is not just his ability to see what others cannot but how he applies it.Yes, the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Lagos East Senatorial District, is a very savvy politician and imaginative visionary. But none of that influences his personal estimation of his competence and self-worth; despite his competency and acclaim, Ashafa affects a humble poise.
However, like Christmas, Global Excellence Recognition Awards, holds once a year but when it comes, it brings the best of excellent cheer and felicitations. Ask the crème of Nigeria’s aristocracy and high society, they have been known to hanker for invitation cards for the prestigious event, every New Year. But the thrill of the event goes beyond the mad scramble for its very exclusive invitation cards.
In the presence of top Nigerians, conferred upon Senator Gbenga Ashafa an award in recognition of his work as the best Senator in Nigeria. Senator Ashafa who was represented by Mr Lawal, commented on this achievement by saying that he feels greatly humbled by the recognition. Since his foray into the murkiness of politics, the suave man has continued to attract a growing consensus of followership among the young and old, literate and literati, affluent and upwardly mobile, urbane and rural. His message of service resonates everywhere in the city of Lagos. Gbenga Bareehu Ashafa (born 22nd July 1955) represents Lagos East in the current 7th National Assembly. Senator Ashafa is the Vice-Chairman, Senate Committee on Lands, Housing and Urban Development. He is also a member of the following Senate committees: Environment and Ecology Committee, Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Relations, Gas Committee, and Senate Services Committee.

He was the Secretary of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Senate Caucus until the fusion of the ACN into the All Progressives Congress (APC). Lagos East Senatorial District covers five local government areas (Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ikorodu, Kosofe and Somolu) and eleven local council development areas (Agboyi-Ketu, Bariga, Eredo, Igbogbo- Baiyeku, Ijede, Imota, Ikorodu North, Ikorodu West, Ikosi-Isheri, Ikosi- Ejinrin, and Lekki).
